The Farmer 100 series formed Fendt's mid-range class between compact and large models from 1970 to 1987. Output of the recorded models ranges from 31 to 55 kW, with models rated in horsepower spanning 48 to 75 hp, using three- and four-cylinder engines with displacement from 2,550 to 4,154 cm³.

Recorded operating weight runs from 2,215 to 3,110 kg, wheelbase from 2,062 to 2,247 mm, and top speed of the listed models spans 25 to 30 km/h. The S and LS suffixes in model names distinguished standard from luxury versions with a more extensive cab.

The Farmer 100 series targeted medium arable and mixed farms and competed at the time with comparable models from Deutz and John Deere. For a used model, check the cab version, as simple open platforms and enclosed LS cabs were offered in parallel.

Within the Farmer 100 series, individual models offered a choice of air or water cooling; water-cooled engines usually reach higher continuous output at the same displacement and tolerate turbocharging better, but require a radiator, water pump, thermostat and regularly changed coolant with frost protection. The PTO in this power class usually ran two-speed at 540 and 1,000 rpm, and the three-point hitch matched category I under ISO 730. When sourcing cooling-system parts on the used market, matching mounts and hoses need attention, as these are not identical between the two versions.
