The D series covered Deutz's compact tractors of the early 1960s, powered by the brand's characteristic air-cooled diesel engines. The D series was built from 1959 to 1964, predating the international standardisation of the three-point hitch under ISO 730 in 1977, and in part even predating the power take-off speed of 540 revolutions per minute internationally fixed in 1965 under ISO R 500. Deutz still exists as an engine manufacturer today and continues to supply spare parts for its classic air-cooled units, easing the upkeep of these compact tractors.
