CMG Aluminium Frame

The register lists here 66 versions with 0.75 to 18.5 kW, two- to eight-pole, full-load efficiencies from 71.1 to 92.5% and at 75% load from 69.9 to 92.3%. Frame sizes run from 90 to 160, protection is consistently IP55. China is recorded throughout as the manufacturing country, testing mostly followed the 2012 GEMS determination (64), with AS/NZS 1359.5:2004 in a few cases (2), always with test method B; of 66 motors, only 40 carry a High Efficiency Level classification, 14 at the 2005 level (roughly IE2), 26 unclassified.

With its lightweight aluminium housing, the range targets applications where weight matters, such as mobile plant, fans and smaller pumps, supplementing CMG's broader range of cast-iron standard motors for the Australian market.

When buying used, what matters is bearing condition and a checked insulation resistance of the winding, visible damage to the aluminium housing (cracks, corrosion at the mounting points), the condition of shaft and key, and a legible nameplate with frame size and pole count; since only a little over half the motors carry a High Efficiency classification, the nameplate is worth checking closely before buying. Spares run through CMG's Australian distribution.
