Case Steyr M 9000 series – tractors M 9078(a), M 9083a, M 9086a and M 9094a from the Case-Steyr era, four-cylinder diesels from 57 to 69 kW with a uniform 4.16-litre displacement
The M 9000 series complemented the 9100s in the 1990s as the mid power class of the Case-Steyr collaboration. The leading M distinguishes this series from the neighbouring 9100 and 9200 types, the last two digits of each type designation rise with engine power, and the trailing letter a denotes four-wheel drive, as with Steyr's other large tractors of the period. All four models listed here use the same four-cylinder engine of 4.16 litres displacement at different power ratings.

The register lists four versions here with 57.4 to 69.2 kW from four-cylinder diesel engines with a uniform 4,156 cm³ displacement. Rated speed lies between 2,100 and 2,300 rpm, unladen weight ranges from 3,750 to 3,950 kg with lengths from 3,980 to 4,215 mm, a width of 2,170 mm and a height of 2,550 mm. The engines are approved for diesel or rapeseed oil methyl ester.
In this mid power class, the M 9000 series targeted mixed farms between pure grassland use and light arable work and competed with comparable mid-range series from Case IH, Fendt and Deutz-Fahr.
When buying used, check the condition of the front axle differential and four-wheel steering, tightness of the hydraulic pump, wear on the clutch and gearbox, and on RME operation the condition of injectors and fuel lines. Parts are available through the CNH network for Steyr and Case IH.
