The register holds 4 versions rated at 50 to 71.3 kW, with four-cylinder engines of 3,613 to 3,908 cm³. Weights range from 3,565 to 4,150 kg, with a uniform length of 3,880 mm and width of 1,990 mm. The JX U series covered the lower to middle power segment among Case IH's utility tractors, aimed at farms wanting a compact, manoeuvrable all-round tractor for field, yard and haulage work. The engines' suitability for RME biodiesel was, at the time, an argument for farms with their own biofuel production.
When buying used, check the engine and injection pump, clutch and gearbox, and the hydraulic system, especially if the tractor ran on biodiesel for extended periods, as RME places extra strain on seals. Rust on the mudguards and cab frame and the condition of the tyres are further checkpoints; spare parts run through the Case IH dealer network.
