At a length of 6,880 mm and a width of 2,550 mm, it weighs 2,800 kg unladen and carries 5,700 kg of payload, a good two-thirds of its gross weight. The very short wheelbase of just 1,000 mm against a length of 6,880 mm shows that the axles sit close together under the centre of the body rather than spread towards the front and rear – the layout of a centre-axle trailer, which carries its load over its own axle group instead of on a coupling at the front.
From 3.5 tonnes gross weight, EU rules require an air-brake system; the simple overrun brake of classes O1 and O2 is no longer sufficient. Centre-axle trailers of this weight class load the tow vehicle's coupling much less than a drawbar trailer with a front axle and therefore track more calmly. Towing it requires a category BE or C1E/CE licence, depending on the permitted gross combination weight.
On a used example, what counts is the condition of the closely spaced axle group and its bearings, the state of the brake drums or discs and the air system, the tightness of the load platform, and rust on the side members, which are particularly stressed by the short wheelbase and central load distribution. On a centre-axle trailer it is also worth checking even loading, since incorrect load distribution directly changes the nose weight on the coupling.
