Allgaier A series (1946–1956) – the Uhingen tractors before Porsche-Diesel: A 111 and A 22 as own designs, A 122, A 133 and A 144 to Porsche's design, air-cooled, 9 to 32 kW

Allgaier of Uhingen near Göppingen was a pressing works that built tractors after the war and thereby wrote a chapter of German farm-machinery history: in 1946 the A 111 appeared, a single-cylinder with 12 hp, in 1949 the own A 22 and A 24 followed, and in 1950 came the turning point – Allgaier took the licence for the Volksschlepper Ferdinand Porsche had designed and from then on built the air-cooled Porsche designs. The A 122, A 133 and A 144 of the register are that range: the last digit gives the cylinder count – two-, three- and four-cylinders with 822 cm³ per cylinder, air-cooled and with Porsche's hydraulic clutch – the 12, 13 and 14 the class. In 1956 Allgaier sold the tractor division to Mannesmann, which continued it as Porsche-Diesel in Friedrichshafen; Allgaier still builds pressed parts and screening and drying plants today.

The register lists 11 versions with 8.8 to 32.2 kW (12 to 44 hp), 822 to 3,980 cm³ with one to four cylinders, rated speeds of 1,500 to 2,200 rpm, unladen weights from 870 to 2,235 kg, lengths from 2,200 to 3,300 mm, widths from 1,460 to 1,770 mm and heights from 1,500 to 1,820 mm – all diesel.

With about 25,000 units the Allgaier-Porsche AP 17 with the two-cylinder became one of the most-built German small tractors of the 1950s; the modular engines with identical cylinders for all sizes were Porsche's idea and Allgaier's manufacturing advantage.

Used Allgaier tractors are sought-after collector pieces of the Porsche family; when buying, originality, the condition of the air-cooled cylinders and blower, the hydraulic clutch and parts supply through the Porsche-Diesel club scene are what count.
