Studebaker – other commercial vehicles: from the M-series pickups of the 1940s through the 2R and 3E ranges and the Transtar to the Champ, six- and eight-cylinder engines of 2.0 to 5.0 litres, 88 to 125 kW
This page gathers the pickup and light commercial ranges of Studebaker that the register could not assign to a named range – from the M-series pickup of the 1940s (M5 as a half-ton, M15 as a three-quarter-ton and M16 as a one-ton) through the successor 2R (1949 to 1953) and 3E (1954/55) ranges to the pickup marketed as the Transtar from 1956 and the Champ, introduced in 1960 on the Lark passenger-car platform. Studebaker, founded in 1852 as a wagon builder in South Bend, Indiana, built vehicles from 1902 and finally ended all vehicle production in 1966; the Champ was thus the brand's last pickup range.

The register lists here 21 versions with 88 to 125 kW from six- and eight-cylinders of 2,000 to 4,970 cm³, unladen weights from 1,290 to 2,537 kg, gross weights from 1,530 to 3,500 kg, lengths from 5,100 to 5,200 mm and widths from 1,770 to 2,170 mm.
Studebaker's pickups competed in the US against Ford, Chevrolet and Dodge but always remained the smaller brand with lower volumes; the vehicles reached Europe mostly as imports and are today traded chiefly as collector pieces of American post-war history.
On a used example from these model years, rust on the frame, wings and load bed, the condition of the carburettor and ignition system, oil leaks from engine and gearbox on the eight-cylinders, and the function of the mechanical brakes count; spare parts are scarce given the low production volumes and run almost exclusively through specialist US parts dealers and clubs.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
