Scania, based in Södertälje, has built trucks since 1902 and in 2004 introduced the PGRT range with a type logic in which the number behind the cab letter directly gives the engine output in hp. The letter R stands for the large, tall long-haul cab with full sleeping comfort, as opposed to the lower distribution cab P. The designation R380 thus denotes a truck with around 380 hp engine output; the register lists both tractor-unit versions for semi-trailers and chassis with flatbed or box bodies in various wheel formulas from 4X2 to 6X2.
