The Scania DC13 082A is a machine built by Scania. Production: 2012. The fuel is 7-15 ppm Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel. The rated output is 257 kW. The engine is turbocharged. The engine meets emissions stage Interim Tier 4. Fuel reaches the combustion chamber through direct injection. The charge air is cooled by coolant. Charging is by a wastegate turbocharger. It is a four-stroke diesel engine. The cylinders are arranged in line. Rated output across the Scania range ranges from 202 to 566 kW; the DC13 082A sits in the lower part of that range with 257 kW. Its immediate neighbours are the DC09 085A below it with 232 kW and the DC13 080A above it with 264 kW. 7586 Scania models across 18 series are on record. The model is listed under Non-road diesel engines. 26 verified figures from 1 source are on file.

Scania DC13 — the Industrial and Marine Engine Built on the Truck Platform

The DC13 is Scania's six-cylinder industrial and marine version of its 13-liter inline engine, sharing its block and cylinder head with the truck variant. According to Scania, the "Next Generation" platform spans an unusually wide 350 to 1,050 hp, achieved through different turbocharging stages.

Scania carries proven truck technology over into stationary and marine applications; the revised "Next Generation DC13" was named "Diesel of the Year" in 2023. Compared with the industrial version, the marine variant gets a more robust aluminum cover in place of the usual plastic cover.

The DC13 is used in ferries, pilot boats, pusher boats, offshore-wind crew transfer vessels and various workboats, as well as construction and mining equipment where high torque at low rpm is required.

On a used industrial or marine unit, check the wet cylinder-liner design: liners can be replaced, but require correct sealing on reinstallation, and a documented history of maintaining the individual four-valve cylinder heads is a precondition for the serviceability Scania advertises for this engine.
