The Reo Motor Car Company was founded in 1904/05 by Ransom E. Olds, the founder of Oldsmobile, in Lansing, Michigan, and alongside passenger cars also built trucks, including the well-known Reo Speedwagon. From the 1950s, Reo built the 2.5-ton all-wheel-drive M35 truck for the US Army in several versions such as the M35A1 and M35A2, represented in the register in numerous variants; in 1967 the truck division was merged with Diamond T under the White Motor Corporation to form Diamond Reo.

On a used M35-family example, the condition of the multifuel engine and injection pump, the transfer case and axles, rust on the frame and load bed, and, for civilian conversions, registration eligibility all count; parts are available through the specialist military-vehicle trade.
