The Renault Kerax is the construction and heavy-duty truck introduced in 1997 by Renault Véhicules Industriels, replacing the Major/Maxter and built until 2013 as a tipper, concrete-mixer chassis and off-road tractor unit. The type designation gives the engine power in horsepower before the separator and the gross weight in tonnes after it, for instance the Kerax 420.34 with about 420 hp and a 34-tonne gross weight; the following codes such as 4X4, 6X4, 6X6 and 8X4 give the number of wheels and driven axles.
