Oliver 55 series (1969–1975) – 1555 to 2655 from Charles City: the last Olivers before White, Minneapolis-Moline kinship, the Fiat-built 1265, 4 WD and the 2255 with V8, 33 to 109 kW
The 55 series was the last tractor programme to carry the Oliver name: the company from Charles City, Iowa, had belonged since 1960 to the White Motor group, which bought Minneapolis-Moline and Cockshutt in 1963, and in 1975 the three traditional brands disappeared into White Farm Equipment. The 55s replaced the 50s in 1969 and order size by the first digits in ascending order: 1555 and 1655 the mid-range, 1755 to 1955 the six-cylinder large tractors, 2055 to 2655 the heavy models, which were technically Minneapolis-Moline designs in Oliver sheet metal – the 2255 carried a V8 and the 2655 the eight-cylinder of 9,583 cm³ as a four-wheel-drive tractor. The 1265 came from Fiat in Italy, the 1555 to 1955 optionally with petrol, diesel or LPG; 4 WD marks four-wheel drive.

Oliver stood for green tractors with a six-cylinder reputation – the Waukesha and Oliver's own in-line engines were regarded as smooth – and the 55s were the range in which the mixing with Minneapolis-Moline and Fiat foreshadowed the brand's end.
Used Olivers are sought-after collector tractors in the USA with an active club scene; when buying, originality, engine condition, the Hydra-Power transmission with powershift step, hydraulics and the availability of sheet-metal parts through remanufacturers are what count.
