MAN TGE – van series: based on the VW Crafter, 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine at 130 kW, variants from TGE 3.180 to TGE 5.180 plus 4x4 versions, gross weights from 3.5 to 4 tonnes
The MAN TGE has been MAN's answer in the van segment since 2017, built on the VW Crafter platform, with which it shares engines and body dimensions; it is manufactured at MAN's plant in Września, Poland. The naming logic follows the VW scheme: the first digit denotes the payload class, the following number the engine output in horsepower divided by ten, so the TGE 3.180 is the 3.0-tonne class with around 180 hp and the TGE 5.180 the 5.0-tonne class with the same output; L3H2 and L3H3 denote wheelbase and roof-height combinations, and SB refers to four-wheel-drive chassis.

The register lists 9 variants here, all at 130 kW from four-cylinder engines displacing 1,968 cm³, kerb weights from 2,397 to 3,140 kg and gross weights from 3,500 to 4,000 kg. Lengths range from 5,760 to around 7,114 mm, widths from 2,040 to 2,100 mm.
The TGE competes against the Mercedes Sprinter, Ford Transit and its twin the VW Crafter, and in fleet business it benefits from the MAN service network already used by haulage firms running the brand's trucks.
When buying used, check the condition of the two-litre turbodiesel and its exhaust after-treatment, the mileage on the dual-clutch gearbox on suitably equipped vans, and, on the 4x4 variants, the transfer-case components; spare parts run through either MAN or VW commercial-vehicle dealers.

What to check before buying
