The LE range supplemented MAN's L2000 generation from below starting in the mid-1990s, aimed at distribution work in city centres and on short routes. The type designations follow the same logic as the larger L2000 chassis: the number before the point gives the gross vehicle weight class in tonnes, the number after it the engine power in horsepower, from the LE 8.150 at around 150 hp at 8 tonnes to the LE 18.280 at around 280 hp at 18 tonnes. Suffixes such as BB and BL after the slash denote body and wheelbase variants of the respective chassis.
