The Alpine is Landini's tractor for the mountains: a compact, low four-wheel tractor with low centre of gravity, short wheelbase and equal or nearly equal wheels, built for sloping meadows, alpine farming and orchards in South Tyrol, Switzerland and Austria, where standard tractors are too tall and too wide. Landini of Fabbrico near Reggio Emilia, since 1994 the core of the ARGO group, ran the range in the 2000s; the type logic: the number gives the hp class – Alpine 65 about 65 hp, 75 about 75, 85 about 85 – STD the standard equipment, GT the higher equipment line with more comfort and hydraulics. The engine in all models is the Perkins 804C-33T, a four-cylinder turbodiesel of 3.3 litres at 2,500 rpm, rated in steps to the three power classes.
