The four models – 8130, 8230, 8330 and 8430 – are arranged in ascending power class. The series' six-cylinder carries the John Deere PowerTech 6090HRW designation, displacing 8,984 cc at 2,100 rpm rated speed. The series ran on wheels only, complementing the articulated and tracked large tractors in the John Deere line-up.
