Iveco was formed in 1975 from the merger of the commercial-vehicle divisions of Fiat, OM and Lancia with the French maker Unic and the German Magirus-Deutz into the Industrial Vehicles Corporation, based in Turin. The AD190S range belongs to the Stralis/Trakker family with its three cab lines: AD stands for Active Day, the low day cab without a bunk, AT for Active Time with one bunk and AS for Active Space as the large flat-floor long-haul cab. The number 190 in the type designation gives the gross weight class of around 19 tonnes, the letter S the corresponding chassis version. Alongside diesel engines, the register also lists natural-gas variants (CNG), which Iveco offered early on for inner-city distribution traffic and refuse vehicles, where the day cab suffices because the vehicles return to the depot daily.
