The Hummer H2, introduced by General Motors in 2002, was built on the chassis of the big Chevrolet and GMC SUVs (GMT800) and civilianised the military look of the Humvee; it was built until 2010 under GM's standalone Hummer brand. The designation 5D denotes the five-door body, A/T the automatic transmission, and 4X4 or AWD permanent four-wheel drive. Unlike the original Hummer H1, derived from the military Humvee, the H2 was a civilian production vehicle on conventional GM engineering.
