The Ford Excursion was an SUV based on the Ford F-250/F-350 Super Duty, built by Ford from 1999 to 2005; it was the largest series-production SUV the brand ever built, aimed at buyers with heavy towing and payload needs. It was offered with the 6.8-litre V10 Triton petrol engine and the 7.3-litre V8 Power Stroke diesel; the codes in the model names, such as SU43F or NU41S, denote body and drivetrain variants from the order codes. Ford built the Excursion at its Louisville Assembly Plant in Kentucky, alongside the F-Series Super Duty trucks with which it shares its platform.
