Fendt 900 Vario (since 1995) – the world's first continuously variable tractor: 926 Vario of 1995, 916 to 926 with MAN, 920 to 930 with Deutz 7.15 l, 927 to 939 with 7.8 l and SCR, 132 to 265 kW
The 900 Vario is the tractor that changed farm machinery: in 1995 Fendt presented with the 926 Vario the first production tractor with a continuously variable transmission – the power-split Vario transmission, developed in Marktoberdorf, that drives from zero to 50 km/h without gears and is today copied by almost every maker. The type logic: the 9 stands for the series, the following digits order the power step – 916 about 160 hp, 926 about 260 hp, 939 about 390 hp. Three generations appear in the register: the first with 916 to 926 (1995 to 2002) and MAN six-cylinders of 6.9 litres, the second with 920 to 930 (2002 to 2010) and Deutz engines of 7.15 litres, the third with 927 to 939 (from 2010) and Deutz engines of 7.8 litres with SCR aftertreatment, with which the 939 Vario reached 390 hp; TMS marks the tractor management system.
