The Neumotors 6510M is a series of outrunner motors from the US maker Neumotors for heavy multicopters. The type code gives the stator format of 65 mm diameter and 10 mm height; the motor measures 75 mm across and 33 mm in height on the outside, and the shaft is 8 mm.

One motor weighs 275 g. Maximum power is 2.7 kW and continuous power is 1.35 kW. The maximum figure applies at maximum speed and voltage and is stated without a time span, so it reads as an upper limit and cannot be compared with power figures from other makers that rest on time bases of 10 to 180 s. All values carry a tolerance of ±5 %. Depending on the winding, KV lies between 27 and 483: low values belong to large propellers and high cell counts, high values to smaller propellers.

Anyone carrying heavy payloads with such motors may exceed 25 kg take-off mass. Above that the EU open category ends and an operational authorisation in the specific category is needed. Below it, classes C3 and C4 apply, and Remote ID is mandatory for C1 to C3. Motor, ESC and battery must share the same cell count.

In selection the current under load counts, not the peak: the ESC needs headroom above the motor current. Wear shows at the bearings, which carry large loads on the 8 mm shaft, at the winding insulation under sustained heat, and at the rotor bell after hard landings. Before every flight the shaft retention and motor mounting deserve a check.

What to check before buying

  • Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
  • Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
  • Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
