The Neumotors 4610M is a series of brushless outrunner motors from the US maker Neumotors for mid-size multicopters. The type code gives the stator format: 46 mm diameter and 10 mm height. Within the 46xx range this is the longer version.

One motor weighs 130 g, is 26 mm long and has a 6 mm shaft. Maximum power is 1,500 W and continuous power is 750 W, half of the peak figure. A high pole count, here 22 poles on 24 slots, favours torque at moderate speed, which larger propellers demand. KV, the no-load speed per volt, depends on the chosen winding: low KV suits large propellers and a high cell count.

Legally the whole aircraft counts, not the motor. Four of these motors weigh 520 g together, before frame, ESC, battery and payload are added. The deciding figure is take-off mass: C1 is below 900 g, C2 below 4 kg, C3 and C4 below 25 kg, and Remote ID is mandatory for C1 to C3. Motor, ESC and battery must share the same cell count.

In selection the propeller and take-off weight come first, then the winding; thrust at part load counts for more than the peak. Wear starts at the ball bearings: the bell must turn smoothly by hand, without scraping, notching or axial play. Next the winding insulation suffers from heat under sustained high current, and after a crash magnets can loosen on the rotor bell or the shaft can bend.

What to check before buying

  • Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
  • Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
  • Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
