The Matek Systems H743-WING is an H743 flight controller for fixed-wing aircraft with 13 outputs, CAN and two IMUs. It is meant for aeroplanes flying ArduPilot with several servos, flaps and extra devices.

The STM32H743VIT6 at 480 MHz offers the reserve that ArduPilot needs even with many devices. Two different IMUs, MPU6000 and ICM20602, allow plausibility checks and switching. Interfaces are 7 UART, 13 PWM outputs with DShot, 2 I2C, 1 CAN and a current sensor carried in versions V2 and V3. The input voltage is 9 to 36 V. Versions V1 to V3 differ in pin assignment, so wiring and firmware target must match the respective version.

In the EU the finished drone decides on class and duties. When flying FPV with goggles an observer is needed in the open category, and flights beyond visual line of sight belong in the specific category. ArduPilot includes geofence and failsafe.

When selecting, the version is decisive: anyone carrying wiring or parameters over from a V1 to a V3 checks the pin assignment. The CAN port allows DroneCAN devices such as GPS or air-pressure sensors. Wear shows at servo plugs, solder pads and the damping; before updates the parameter file is saved, after modifications attitude and compass are calibrated.

What to check before buying

  • Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
  • Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
  • Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
