The Matek Systems F405-WING is an older F405 flight controller for fixed-wing aircraft with built-in OSD and current sensor. It is meant for aeroplanes flying with ArduPilot that drive servos, ailerons and motor from a single board.
The processor is an STM32F405RGT6 at 168 MHz; in this class ArduPilot builds do not carry every function because of the limited flash, which has to be considered when choosing the firmware version. The gyro is an MPU6000, the barometer a BMP280, in later batches a DPS310. Interfaces available are 6 UART, 10 PWM outputs, an OSD and a current and voltage sensor; the sensor provides consumption data for telemetry and battery failsafe. The input voltage is 9 to 30 V. The board measures 56 × 36 × 15 mm and weighs 25 g.
In the EU the finished drone decides on class and duties. When flying FPV with goggles the open category requires an observer; flights beyond visual line of sight belong in the specific category.
When selecting, revision and batch count: the barometer changes, and the board belongs to an older generation, so newer fixed-wing controllers with an H7 processor offer more reserve. The current sensor is designed for the stated input voltage. Wear shows at solder pads, servo plugs and the damping; before firmware updates the parameter file is saved, after modifications attitude and compass are calibrated.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
- Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
- Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
