iFlight Borg H7

Series: iFlight Flight controllers for FPV and small drones

The iFlight Borg H7 (China) is a high-voltage FPV flight controller in 30x30 format for batteries up to 12S, with an H743 processor and two ICM42688 gyros. The Betaflight target is called IFLIGHT_BORG_H7. It is meant for FPV multicopters with a high cell count.

The STM32H743VIH6 offers reserves for filters and computing load. Two ICM42688 gyros make it possible to combine their signals or to fall back on the other if one sensor fails; that is more sensor safety than simple FPV boards have, but it stays behind the redundancy of a mission autopilot because both sensors are identical. An SPA06-003 supplies altitude data. Interfaces are 7 UART and an AT7456E OSD. The input voltage ranges from 4S to 12S (LiHV). The board measures 37.5 × 37.5 mm with a hole pattern of 30.5 × 30.5 mm and weighs 17 g.

The class of the finished drone follows from take-off mass: C0 is below 250 g, C1 below 900 g with Direct Remote ID. When flying with goggles the open category requires an observer. A 12S drivetrain brings a lot of power in a small space and with it higher demands on protection and care in operation.

When selecting, capacitors and solder joints are decisive, because at 12S speed controllers produce voltage spikes that destroy weak components. At 17 g the board is heavier than usual 30x30 controllers. Wear shows at the USB socket and solder pads; before Betaflight updates the configuration is saved, after modifications both gyros are checked for agreement.

What to check before buying

  • Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
  • Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
  • Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
