The Hacker Motor Q80-8L V2 135KV is a high-quality German outrunner with an 88.5 mm diameter, originally developed for F3A aerobatic models. Hacker Motor is a German maker of electric drives for model flying. The case is 89.3 mm long and the mass is 1,335 g. This type is leaving the range.
At 135 KV the motor is tuned very slow and needs a correspondingly large propeller: the maker names Xoar 27x12 and Engel 27x12 with three blades. On 12S (44.4 V nominal) that is roughly 6,000 rpm unloaded. The motor delivers up to 7,000 W for 15 s, while the maker's drive table lists operating points from 3,580 to 4,048 W at 83 to 92 A, a little over half; the peak value is a short-term figure for take-off and climb. For the speed controller (ESC) the maker names 170 to 300 A.
The voltage of 12S and currents of 170 to 300 A put the motor in the range of heavy fixed-wing aircraft. Motor, controller and battery must carry the same cell count, and a battery that is to deliver such currents needs a high discharge capability. A fully charged 12S pack is 50.4 V. An aircraft of this size can reach the open-category limit of 25 kg; the EU class depends on the weight of the whole drone, not on the motor.
The design comes from aerobatics, which stresses the motor with rapid load changes: bearings and shaft absorb gyroscopic forces and thrust reversals. When buying second-hand, check bearing play, shaft wobble and the magnets in the bell, which must show neither rub marks from the stator nor cracks. Winding insulation and varnish age in heat, and because the type is leaving the range, a replacement should match in hole pattern and shaft diameter.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
- Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
- Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
