The Gemfan 7037-3 Carbon Nylon is a three-blade propeller from Gemfan Hobby made of carbon-fibre-reinforced nylon for small-class FPV drones. It is intended for cinelifters, that is, builds carrying a heavy camera payload, and for 7 in quadcopters; it is recommended for motors from size 2808 upwards, meaning 28 mm stator diameter and 8 mm stator height.

The diameter is 7 in, and the disc diameter is given as 178.8 mm, a figure that can differ from the inch value. The 3.7 in pitch is flat for this size: it keeps the current draw per unit of thrust low and suits heavy builds that need a lot of thrust at moderate speed. Three blades raise thrust at a limited diameter at the cost of efficiency. The weight is 8.7 g, the bore 5 mm and the hub centre thickness 7 mm. The propeller does not fold.

A cinelifter carries a camera and a battery, and both count towards the take-off mass that decides the class. From 250 g the operator must register, and classes C1 to C3 require direct remote ID. Only an aircraft of class C0 or C1 may fly over uninvolved people; heavier aircraft need distance. Where identifiable people are filmed, data protection law applies as well.

Fibre-reinforced nylon is stiffer than plain polycarbonate and breaks more forgivingly on ground contact than full carbon. On selection it matters that motor size and bore fit and that two left- and two right-rotating propellers are on hand per build. On camera builds imbalance shows at once: it appears as vibration in the picture long before a blade is visibly damaged. Nicked blade tips are therefore a reason to replace the whole set.

What to check before buying

  • Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
  • Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
  • Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
