The SkyDome Man-portable System from Fortem Technologies (USA) is a counter-drone kit that two people carry in three cases. It consists of a TrueView radar (R30), the SkyDome Manager software with AI-supported situation assessment and the net-capture interceptor DroneHunter F700. The manufacturer gives the US groups 1 and 2 as the target class, at the lower end also group 3; group 1 extends to about 9 kg, group 2 to about 25 kg.

Detection reaches 2 to 3.5 km depending on drone size, the effect 0.5 to 3 km; the upper limits apply to favourable conditions. Total weight is 89 kg, split over two rucksack hard cases and one hand case. One swap set of batteries carries operation for about 4 hours. Target tracking is done by the radar, the effect by the interceptor with its net.

With the net-capture interceptor the system counts among the active countermeasures. Destroying, disabling or taking over a drone is reserved to designated state bodies in Poland under Art. 156ze of the Aviation Law (Dz.U. 2025 item 179); in Germany hazard prevention rests with the federal and state police, and § 15a LuftSiG governs support by the armed forces through administrative assistance. Who may operate jammers is set by § 91 TKG in Germany and Art. 42 of the Electronic Communications Law (Dz.U. 2024 item 1221) in Poland: authorities only. Detection alone can be considered by operators of critical infrastructure, airports and event organisers; radio detection touches the secrecy of telecommunications (Fernmeldegeheimnis), and its classification is considered open.

For a portable kit, condition and cycle count of the batteries and swap sets, reloading the net unit, calibrating the radar after each set-up and the software link count. Two people move 89 kg in several cases; transport and storage of the batteries, in drones almost always lithium, fall under dangerous-goods rules.

What to check before buying

  • Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
  • Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
  • Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
