Deutz built the DX series in the 1980s at its Cologne plant as a broad line-up from compact tractor to large field tractor; the two-digit number after DX approximates the power class in horsepower, so the DX 90 and Dx 110 mark the upper end and the DX 36 V the lower power step. A hallmark of Deutz was doing without a water radiator in favour of air-cooled diesel engines, also used throughout the DX series. With two- to six-cylinder engines, the models covered a wide power range.
