The CLAAS XERION 5000 TRAC is a tractor from the Xerion series.

CLAAS Xerion – High-Power Tractor With Rotating Cab Since 1997, with Six-Cylinder Engines, 224 to 380 kW and Operating Weight from 10,200 to 16,570 kg

CLAAS launched the Xerion in 1997 as a standalone large-tractor series. Distinctive features include four equal-size wheels, a cab that rotates 180 degrees, and, on the Saddle Trac version, a centrally mounted cab with mounting points at the front, rear and middle of the vehicle. According to the register, engine output ranges from 224 to 380 kW, with models rated in horsepower spanning 305 to 524 hp.

The six-cylinder engine displaces between 8,801.5 and 12,809 cm³ depending on model, and PTO output of the recorded models ranges from 380 to 472 hp. Recorded operating weight falls between 10,200 and 16,570 kg, wheelbase between 3,300 and 3,600.2 mm, and top speed is around 50 km/h.

Within the CLAAS range, the Xerion sits above the Axion series as a high-power tractor for operations with heavy draft requirements, such as tillage, slurry tanker transport or contracting work. When buying a used Xerion, it matters to distinguish between Standard, Saddle Trac and Trac VC versions.

With rated outputs from 224 to 380 kW, the Xerion exceeds ISO 730 Category III and, in its most powerful models, reaches Category IV for the rear three-point hitch. Both Caterpillar and Mercedes-Benz, whose engines were fitted depending on model year, remain active engine manufacturers and still supply spare parts for their units.

What to check before buying

  • Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
  • Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
  • Load the hydraulics and watch for sag.
  • Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
