The OPTUM 300 CVX from Case IH is part of the Optum series. Production: 2019-2025. The engine delivers 230 kW, has 6 cylinders, with a displacement of 6,728 cm³. The machine is 5,812 mm long and 2,550 mm wide. The unladen weight is 10,250 kg. The gross vehicle weight is 16,800 kg. The Optum series covers 13 models. Rated output within it ranges from 199 to 250 kW; the OPTUM 300 CVX sits in the upper part of that range with 230 kW. Its immediate neighbours are the Optum 250 CVX Drive below it with 201 kW and the Optum 340 CVX above it with 250 kW. Unladen weight within it ranges from 10,250 to 11,500 kg; here the OPTUM 300 CVX sits at the bottom of that range with 10,250 kg. 1222 Case IH models across 76 series are on record.

Case IH Optum (from 2015) – the six-cylinder between Puma and Magnum from St. Valentin: Optum 250 to 340, the number as hp class, CVX and CVXDrive for the stepless transmission, AFS Connect as generation

The Optum is the range with which Case IH closed the gap between Puma and Magnum in 2015: a standard tractor of 270 to 340 hp that at about 11 tonnes is lighter than the Magnum and with stepless transmission aims at European contractors and arable farms – built in St. Valentin, Austria, the Steyr plant where the Optum is made as twin of the Steyr Terrus. The type logic: Optum marks the range, the number the hp class – Optum 250 about 250 hp, 270 about 270, 300 about 300, 340 about 340 hp as the most powerful model since 2021 – CVX and CVXDrive the stepless transmission (CVT in the 2016 to 2017 nomenclature), AFS Connect the generation from 2020 with new cab and telematics. The engine in all models is the FPT NEF six-cylinder of 6.7 litres at 2,200 rpm – the smallest engine of its power class, with two-stage turbocharging and SCR exhaust aftertreatment to stage V.

The register lists 13 versions with 199 to 250 kW from the six-cylinder of 6,700 to 6,728 cm³, lift capacities from 7,167 to 10,305 kg, unladen weights from 10,250 to 11,500 kg, a gross weight of 16,800 kg, lengths from 5,387 to 5,812 mm, widths from 2,536 to 3,023 mm and a height of 3,265 mm.

The Optum won the Tractor of the Year title in 2016 and is Case IH's answer to the Fendt 900 Vario, John Deere 7R and Claas Axion 900 – the power-to-weight ratio is its argument.

On used tractors, operating hours, engine and SCR system, CVX transmission (oil history, calibration), front-axle and cab suspension, hydraulics, electronics and guidance system, tyres count; parts run through CNH.

What to check before buying

  • Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
  • Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
  • Check the weights in the papers against the figures here — attachments change them.
  • Load the hydraulics and watch for sag.
  • Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
