The Case IH MAXXUM MX135 is a tractor from the Maxxum series.

Case IH Maxxum – One Name for Two Tractor Generations Since 1989, with Four- and Six-Cylinder Engines, 66 to 170 kW and Operating Weight from 4,573.6 to 7,980 kg

Case IH first used the Maxxum name in 1989 for its 5100 series, then revived it in 2007 for a second generation positioned as a mid-range model below the Puma line. These two eras explain the wide spread of the register data: four- and six-cylinder engines with displacement from 3,920 to 7,480 cm³, output from 66 to 170 kW, and PTO ratings from 90 to 120 hp among the recorded models.

Recorded operating weight ranges from 4,573.6 to 7,980 kg, wheelbase from 2,345 to 2,664 mm, and hydraulic lift capacity from 3,406 to 7,864 kg. Top speed spans from 25 km/h on older mechanical versions to 50 km/h on newer CVX-equipped variants.

For buyers, identifying the generation matters most: the 1990s 5100 series is a fundamentally different tractor from the Maxxum built since 2007, which in the current line-up sits above the Farmall range and below the Puma.

With rated outputs from 66 to 170 kW, the Maxxum spans ISO 730 Category II to III for the rear three-point hitch across both generations, with a standard dual-speed power take-off at 540 and 1,000 revolutions per minute. Case IH remains part of the CNH Industrial group today, so spare parts for the engine, gearbox and hydraulics of this series run through the existing Case IH parts network, whichever generation of Maxxum happens to be involved.

What to check before buying

  • Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
  • Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
  • Load the hydraulics and watch for sag.
  • Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
