Case IH CS series (1997–2005) – Steyr in red from St. Valentin: CS 48 to CS 94, CS 110 to CS 150, A for four-wheel drive, Sisu and Perkins engines, RME-capable, 35 to 107 kW
The CS series is the result of a purchase: in 1996 Case IH took over the Austrian tractor maker Steyr in St. Valentin, and from 1997 its 9000-series models ran in Case IH red as CS – the small and medium CS 48 to CS 94 from Steyr's compact line, the CS 110 to CS 150 from the big Steyr range. The number roughly gives the output in hp, A four-wheel drive; the engines come from Steyr's suppliers – Sisu and Valmet from Finland for the six-cylinders, Perkins and MWM for the smaller ones – and eight of the twelve register models are approved for rapeseed methyl ester (RME), a Steyr legacy from the 1990s when Austria promoted the biofuel. In 2005 Case IH replaced the CS with the Maxxum and Puma, which are still built in St. Valentin.

The register lists 12 versions with 35.3 to 106.6 kW (52 to 150 hp), 2,701 to 6,596 cm³ with three to six cylinders, torque from 193 to 556 Nm, unladen weights from 2,360 to 6,205 kg, lengths from 3,530 to 5,435 mm, widths from 1,873 to 2,520 mm and heights from 2,230 to 2,920 mm – all diesel.
The CS are regarded as Austrian quality under the Case badge: Steyr's shuttle transmission, the low cab for mountain farms and the powershift steps made them popular in the Alpine countries and southern Germany; their sisters continued in parallel as the Steyr 9000.
