Massey Ferguson MF 7400 (2003–2012) – the Dyna-VT range from Beauvais: MF 7465 to MF 7499, the last digits as power step, Sisu six-cylinders of 6.0 and 7.4 litres, stepless transmission as hallmark, 88 to 162 kW
The MF 7400 was Massey Ferguson's range for the stepless transmission: introduced in Beauvais in 2003 as a complement to the MF 6400 with Dyna-6 powershift, it carried the Dyna-VT transmission AGCO derived from the Fendt Vario and thus offered in the mid-range as the second group after Fendt. The type logic: 74 marks the range, the last two digits the power step – MF 7465 about 125 hp, MF 7475 about 140, MF 7480 about 150, MF 7497 about 200, MF 7499 about 220 hp with power boost – the range being extended in 2008 up to the 7495 and 7499 with 7.4 litre engine. The engines are Sisu six-cylinders from Linnavuori (today AGCO Power) of 6.0 litres in the small and 7.4 litres in the big models, at 2,200 rpm, with common-rail injection and SCR exhaust aftertreatment in the last generation – in 2008 MF was the first maker to introduce SCR in tractors.

The register lists 5 versions with 88.3 to 161.9 kW from six-cylinders of 5,987 to 7,368 cm³, unladen weights from 6,250 to 8,021 kg, lengths from 4,720 to 5,060 mm, widths from 2,450 to 2,550 mm and heights from 2,895 to 3,100 mm.
The MF 7400 made the stepless transmission at Massey Ferguson the standard of the upper mid-range; in 2012 the MF 7600 and in 2014 the MF 7700 followed in the same logic.
On used tractors, operating hours, Sisu engine and injection, Dyna-VT transmission (oil history, calibration, noises), front-axle and cab suspension, hydraulics and electronics, on SCR models the AdBlue system count; parts run through the AGCO network.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
- Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
- Check the weights in the papers against the figures here — attachments change them.
- Check front and rear tyre sizes: mismatched pairs strain the drivetrain.
- Shift the gearbox cold and warm — jumps only show up at temperature.
- Load the hydraulics and watch for sag.
- Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
