Volvo Trucks 3.5–12 t (Class N2)

The register lists 190 versions with kerb weights of 3,050 to 11,860 kg and gross vehicle weights of 4,500 to 12,000 kg. Engine outputs are recorded for 95 models and range from 77 to 206 kW, displacements from 2,978 to 12,130 cm³ across 4 to 6 cylinders; lengths are recorded for 180 models, from 5,300 to 11,920 mm, width for all 190 from 1,880 to 2,600 mm.

With its compact forward-control cab and, unusually for the class, its variable body width, the FL range covers the entire spectrum from furniture vans through refrigerated boxes to municipal tippers and crane trucks; in distribution transport it competed chiefly against the MAN L/M range, Mercedes-Benz Atego and Iveco Eurocargo.

On a used example, what matters on the older FL6 models is frame corrosion and the condition of the cab mounts, on all model years the brakes, clutch and the condition of the air suspension where fitted; spare parts remain readily available through the Volvo Trucks network even for older model years, which makes the FL range a sought-after used vehicle in distribution transport.
