The third series of the Valtra A tractors is built at the Finnish plant in Suolahti and comprises the models A53, A63 and A73 in the register, each in the narrow Plantage version and the somewhat wider Kompakt version. Valtra is the name used since the 1990s for the Finnish tractor works, formerly operating under the Valmet brand, and has belonged to the US group AGCO since 2004. The 3rd-series designation distinguishes these models from earlier generations of the same A family.

The register lists 3 versions with 37 to 58 kW from three-cylinder diesel engines of 3,300 cm³; depending on the Plantage or Kompakt version and cab fitment, unladen weights range from 2,700 to 3,200 kg, lengths from 4,000 to 4,100 mm, widths from 1,700 to 1,940 mm and heights from 2,175 to 2,580 mm; torque reaches 310 Nm.
The narrow Plantage version is designed for work in the tight row spacing of orchards and vineyards, while the Kompakt version serves as a more versatile farmyard tractor for small and medium holdings; both compete with comparable narrow-track and compact models from Same, Fendt and Kubota.
When buying used, on the Plantage version particularly the condition of the mudguards and cab after contact with branches matters, and on both versions the clutch, gearbox and hydraulics, plus the front axle bearings; spare parts run through the Valtra dealer network.
