The Valmet 02 range – Finnish tractors from Suolahti: the large 1502 and the 802/802-4, 60.3 to 100 kW, 3,539 to 7,470 kg
The 02 range is the older of the two Valmet generations covered here from Suolahti in Finland, and it spans an unusually wide arc: the smaller 802/802-4 and the large 1502, the flagship of the range with six cylinders and markedly higher output. As with the later 03 range, an appended -4 marks the four-wheel-drive version of the same base model.

The register lists 2 versions with 60.3 to 100 kW from four to six cylinders of 4,397 to 6,596 cm³, torque of 306 to 550 Nm, unladen weights of 3,539 to 7,470 kg, lengths of 3,840 to 5,330 mm, widths of 1,971 to 2,125 mm, heights of 2,499 to 3,000 mm and rated speeds of 2,200 to 2,300 rpm.
In the 1970s and 1980s Valmet was among Scandinavia's leading tractor makers; with the 1502 the brand fielded one of the most powerful tractors in its line-up for large arable farms, while the 802 served as a versatile mid-range tractor for the broad mass of Finnish and Swedish farming.
On used examples, the condition of the injection pump and cooling system, the state of clutch, gearbox and PTO all count, and on the large 1502 especially wear on the axles and hydraulic pump under heavy drawbar load; spare parts run through today's Valtra service network and independent farm-machinery dealers, and on the 802-4 the driven front axle deserves particular attention.
