Ursus C – early post-war tractors from the Polish maker Ursus: the small C-308 and the single-cylinder C-45, 5.9 to 33.1 kW (8 to 45 hp)
The C range brings together two very different early models from the Polish Ursus tractor works near Warsaw: the small C-308 and the heavy single-cylinder C-45. Both carry the factory's terse C type logic, yet differ fundamentally in size, weight and engine design – the C-308 ran on two-stroke petrol-oil mix, the C-45 as a multi-fuel engine able to take several kinds of fuel. Ursus was the central Polish tractor works of the post-war era, and it built its first independent designs in exactly this phase.

The register lists 2 versions with 5.9 to 33.1 kW (8 to 45 hp) from single-cylinder engines, unladen weights of 270 to 3,750 kg, lengths of 2,700 to 3,522 mm, widths of 695 to 1,835 mm, heights of 970 to 2,190 mm and rated speeds of 630 to 2,400 rpm.
Ursus was the central tractor brand of socialist Poland, supplying farms across the country and export markets in the Eastern Bloc for decades; the early C models mark the build-up of an independent Polish tractor production in the first post-war years, long before the brand gained international standing with larger, licence-built ranges.
On used examples, the condition of cylinder and piston, the tightness of the fuel system, the state of clutch, gearbox and brakes, and rust on sheet-metal parts and the frame all count; spare parts for these early types are scarce and run almost entirely through collectors and specialist restorers.
