The Toyota Land Cruiser has been built since 1951 and is among the longest-running off-road ranges in the world; the versions listed in the register under trucks include both the pickup-bodied 70 Series – such as the double-cab HZJ75 and PZJ75 – and enclosed off-roaders of the 150 Series (Prado) and 200 Series. Toyota builds the Land Cruiser mainly in Japan, partly in cooperation with Hino, as well as at further plants for export.

The range from four-cylinder turbodiesels to a V8 shows the breadth of the line-up, spanning a simple working vehicle to a comfortable off-roader; as a rugged utility vehicle, the Land Cruiser is used worldwide in mining, agriculture, by aid organisations and on expeditions, competing there with the Nissan Patrol and Mitsubishi Pajero/Montero.
When buying used, check for rust on the frame and floor – a known weak point on ladder-frame off-roaders – the condition of the transfer case and differential locks, and, on diesel engines, the injection system and turbocharger. Suspension bushes and brakes deserve particular attention after off-road use; parts are well supplied through Toyota's worldwide dealer network.
