The TD 60 belongs to the class of standard tractors with an air-cooled diesel engine, a design offered by a number of smaller manufacturers in the 1960s alongside the more common water-cooled construction. Air cooling was seen at the time as a rugged, low-maintenance alternative that avoided the need for cooling-water plumbing.

The TD 60 is powered by an air-cooled four-cylinder diesel engine of 3,400 cm³ displacement, delivering 38 kW (52 hp) and 177 Nm of torque at 2,300 rpm. At an unladen weight of 2,300 kg, a wheelbase of 2,000 mm and a top speed of 20 km/h, the machine was built for field work rather than road travel, at a ratio of roughly 60 kg of weight per kW.

Air-cooled four-cylinder engines of this kind, similar to those also common at Deutz and Hatz, tolerate dust and changing outside temperatures well, since there is no cooling water to freeze or leak. The 20 km/h top speed limit shows that the TD 60 was built mainly for field work on small to medium-sized plots, where low road speed was not a real drawback.

On a used TD 60, the condition of the cooling fins on the cylinder block matters most, since with air cooling they must be free of dirt and damage to carry heat away effectively. The clutch and brake system should also be thoroughly checked given the machine's age.
