The 9000 range from Steyr, dating from the 1990s, comprises three versions in the register – the 9078, 9086 and 9094 – whose model numbers denote rising power class. Like the rest of the Steyr line-up, these tractors were built at the Austrian plant in St. Valentin. At the time, the range belonged to the mid power segment of the Steyr model line-up, positioned between the smaller and larger series on offer.

The register lists 3 versions with 57.4 to 69.2 kW from four-cylinder diesel engines of 4,156 cm³, unladen weights of 3,370 to 3,920 kg, lengths of 4,025 to 4,195 mm, widths of 1,873 to 2,063 mm and heights of 2,660 to 2,730 mm, at rated speeds of 2,250 to 2,300 rpm; the engines are approved for both diesel and RME (rapeseed methyl ester).
Tractors in this power class covered classic field work on medium-sized farms in the 1990s and competed with comparable ranges from Fiat, Deutz-Fahr and Massey Ferguson; RME approval already allowed running on the rapeseed-based biodiesel that Austria promoted early on. That early flexibility over fuel made the range attractive to farms already experimenting with home-grown biodiesel.
When buying used, condition of the four-cylinder diesel including injection and cooling — with earlier RME use, particularly the fuel-system seals — plus the gearbox, hydraulics and lift for wear all matter; spare parts run through the Steyr dealer network.
