Someca was Fiat's French tractor manufacturing arm, with a plant in Saint-Dizier in the Champagne region; from the 1960s the brand built Fiat tractors under licence and under its own name for the French market and for export. The models gathered here range from the early DA and DR types through the multi-purpose SOM-20 D to the 400 and 500 range (474, 570) with the suffixes TD for turbo-diesel, V for a higher-output version and E for an equipment level. In the 1980s Someca was absorbed into Fiatagri, which later merged with Ford New Holland to form New Holland.

Over decades Someca shaped the mechanisation of smaller and medium-sized farms in France, competing directly with Renault and the French importers of Massey Ferguson and John Deere; the close kinship with Fiat still shows today in shared engine and gearbox components.

On used examples, what counts is the condition of the engine and injection pump, the tightness of the hydraulics, wear on clutch and gearbox, and rust on the bodywork; because Someca was absorbed into Fiat and later New Holland, many mechanical parts can still be found through Fiat's parts base, while brand-specific fittings are now only available second-hand.
