The XB Max series belongs to Hürlimann's range under the umbrella of the SAME Deutz-Fahr group (SDF), which has run the Swiss tractor maker founded in 1929 in Wil, canton St. Gallen, since 1979. The XB 110 MAX and XB MAX 85 are mid-power four-cylinder tractors whose type number names the approximate output in hp. The Max suffix marks the more powerful versions within the XB series compared with simpler base versions.

The register lists 2 versions here with 60.5 to 80.2 kW from four-cylinder engines of 4,038 cm³, torque of 303 to 400 Nm at a rated speed of 2,100 to 2,300 rpm, and unladen weights of 2,990 to 4,100 kg, with lengths of 3,890 to 3,990 mm, a width of 2,050 mm and heights of 2,530 to 2,580 mm.

As versatile four-cylinder tractors, the XB Max series targeted mid-size mixed farming operations and competed there with comparable models from group siblings Same and Deutz-Fahr as well as Fendt's 300 series. With comparatively compact dimensions, the models also suited work in tighter farmyard passages and livestock buildings.

When buying one of these four-cylinder tractors, attention should go to the condition of the engine and injection system, the tightness of the hydraulics, rust on the fenders and cab floor, and the condition of the clutch and transmission, as well as the tightness of the cab mounts and the function of the four-wheel drive and differential lock, where fitted; spare parts are available through the SDF dealer network.
