Anton Schlüter München is one of the traditional German tractor makers and later moved its tractor production to Freising, before the brand became known in the 1970s and 1980s for very powerful large tractors; the ASL range with the ASL 130 and the ASL 180 instead belongs to the brand's smaller, early models. Both are single-cylinder diesels of comparatively small displacement and unladen weights of little more than a tonne.

The register lists here 2 versions with 9.5 to 13.2 kW, or 13 to 18 hp, from a single cylinder of 1,256 to 1,610 cm³ at 1,500 revolutions per minute. Unladen weights run from 1,115 to 1,250 kg, lengths from 2,440 to 2,575 mm and widths from 1,580 to 1,605 mm; overall height runs from 1,560 mm without to 2,180 mm with the steel cab roof.
Small tractors of this power class served in the post-war period chiefly smaller farming operations for which a full multi-cylinder farm tractor was too expensive or too large, and at Schlüter mark the opposite end from the much later, very large tractors the brand became known for.
On a used ASL, the condition and compression of the single cylinder, the tightness of the cooling system and injection pump, the state of the gearbox and steering, on versions with the steel cab roof its condition and mounting, and corrosion on the frame and mudguards matter.
