Anton Schlüter München, founded in 1899 as an engine maker, had built engines for decades before entering tractor manufacture in the 1930s; the AS range – AS standing for Ackerschlepper, field tractor – was the basic post-war programme that the company, operating from Freising, later expanded into the large Trac tractors. The type logic is direct: the number from AS 15 to AS 55 gives the hp class, as the register's power span also confirms, with cylinder count rising from one to three across the line.

The register lists 6 versions with 11 to 40.3 kW (15 to 55 hp) from single- to three-cylinder diesels of 1,558 to 4,830 cm³ at 1,500 to 1,650 rpm, unladen weights from 1,200 to 3,200 kg, lengths from 2,510 to 3,615 mm, widths from 1,580 to 1,910 mm and heights from 1,560 to 1,830 mm.

The AS range was the tractor of Bavaria's post-war reconstruction farming of the 1950s, with which Schlüter competed against Fendt, Eicher and Deutz, before the company climbed to ever higher power classes in the following decades up to its later large tractors.

On these tractors, now over sixty years old, engine and injection pump, clutch and gearbox, hydraulics and linkage, brakes and sheet metal and frame for rust count; since Schlüter ended tractor production in 1993, parts now run only through specialists and collector markets.
