Scarab 3.5 – collective page of sweeper bodies on a 3.5-tonne chassis outside the named series: 2,970 cc four-cylinder, kerb weight 1,720 kg, width 1,700 mm
Scarab is a British maker of street-sweeper bodies and belongs to the French Fayat group; this collective page lists the versions designated 3.5, which the register has not assigned to a named series of its own. The designation 3.5 refers to the 3.5-tonne gross weight of the chassis on which the sweeper body is fitted.

The register lists here 2 versions with a four-cylinder engine of 2,970 cc, a kerb weight of 1,720 kg, a gross weight of 3,500 kg and a width of 1,700 mm.
Sweepers of this light class clean pavements, cycle paths, car parks and narrower streets for municipalities and private cleaning contractors, where larger sweeper bodies would be too unwieldy; the compact chassis also turns easily in tight town-centre lanes and pedestrian zones.
When buying used, check wear on the brooms and sweeping rollers, the condition of the suction system and water tanks, corrosion of the body caused by moisture and swept material, the condition of the hydraulics and auxiliary drive, and the clutch and brakes of the chassis; for municipally run machines the service history is also worth checking.
As an EU class N1 vehicle up to 3.5 tonnes, the sweeper chassis can be driven on a category B licence; it is a bare chassis with a special-purpose body rather than a panel van, which is why the entire sweeping mechanism, with its own drive for the brooms, suction system and water tank, is mounted behind the cab.
