The Argon range was developed in the 1990s at SAME within the SLH group, the alliance of SAME, Lamborghini and Hürlimann; the models covered here, Argon 50, 60 and 70, carry the DT suffix on the two smaller versions for the doppia trazione four-wheel-drive version. The type number follows the logic typical of SAME, roughly denoting the power class in hp.

With power in the range of 50 to 70 hp, the Argon range covered the lower to mid segment of the SAME line-up and competed with comparable compact and mid-range tractors from Massey Ferguson, Fiat and Deutz-Fahr; as four-wheel-drive versions, the DT models were also suited to sloping terrain such as in vineyards.
On a used Argon, the condition of the clutch and gearbox, the tightness of the hydraulics, rust on the chassis and wings, and, on the DT versions, the condition of the front-axle gearing and drive shafts also count; parts run through the SAME Deutz-Fahr network. The condition of the engine mounts and cab mountings is also worth checking, as wear here leads to increased vibration during operation on tractors of this class.
