Samecar was the utility-vehicle arm of SAME in Treviglio and in the 1960s built tractor-based transport vehicles, from the compact Elefante to the heavy industrial Toro DT version with an eight-cylinder engine. This vehicle category combined a farm tractor's drivetrain with a lorry-like chassis for hauling goods.

Tractor-based transport vehicles such as the Samecar filled a niche in post-war Italy between the classic lorry and the farm tractor, and were used to haul materials on industrial sites and large estates where the tractor's rugged drivetrain was valued. and were built in far smaller numbers than SAME's regular tractor lines.
On these rare vehicles, buying used means checking the condition of the respective diesel engine and clutch, the frame and load bed for rust and wear, and the brakes and steering; spare parts for this small range are now mainly available through specialists and the used-parts market. Given the small numbers built, it is also worth checking the condition and history of the individual vehicle before buying.
