Deutz-Fahr Agrotron: the first generation from 1995, 95 to 145 hp, four- and six-cylinder diesels, the origin of the flagship name still used today
In 1995 SAME took over the traditional German maker Deutz-Fahr; shortly after, in 1996, the Agrotron appeared as the first series under the new group's banner — the MK1 generation bundles exactly these original models.

The register lists 8 live models, from the Agrotron 4.95 to the Agrotron 6.45, built between 1995 and 1997. Output ranges from 70.8 to 106.7 kW, or 95 to 145 hp, weight from 4,220 to 5,390 kg, displacement from 3,192 to 7,146 cm3, across four- and six-cylinder engines.
With the Agrotron, Deutz-Fahr established a distinctive body design and a model name that, across several generations since (MK2, MK3, Series 6 and beyond), still denotes the brand's flagship segment today.
For collectors and enthusiasts, the MK1 generation thus marks the origin of one of the longest-running model names in European tractor building.
When buying a used MK1 Agrotron, clutch and gearbox condition, the tightness of the lift hydraulics, and – on the six-cylinder models – the injection system and turbocharger all matter; rust on the cab cladding, novel for its time, after decades of use is common too. Parts for this first generation run through the SAME Deutz-Fahr group, which continues the series as its own concern to this day. PTO and lift correspond in this power class to ISO 730 Category II to III, at 540 or 1,000 rpm.
